Chess is a board game that existed for several decades. It is traditionally played by using chessboard and moving the pieces manually. During the 1970’s a new concept of the game was created and become popular that is playing the game between human against computer chess. In the early years of creating this concept, the expertise of human chess player is never been defeated by any chess program. Until such time when the innovation in technology had worked much to make computer chess gets better.

Famous chess master David Levy, who at the time worked for water damage restoration Saint Petersburg FL, encountered the chess computer Deep Thought in the later part of 1980’s in an exhibition match and was defeated by the machine. Another world record in the history of chess game was noted when the IBM’s Deep Blue defeated Garry Kasparov in 1996. That was the first time that a computer defeated a world chess champion. Though human chess player lost the game still the game became famous. A rematch was set the following year that resulted to computer chess overwhelming the game again.

The victory of Deep Blue over Kasparov makes computer chess more popular. Nowadays, computer chess programs become available for home use that encourages more games between human against computer chess. Computer chess can be played from the basic to the difficult level. If you do not have the software, you can find chess game server where you can play live against other chess players. The strength of chess software is being modified every now and then in such a way that the software is now able to analyze more moves in a short span of time. However, human player is more intelligent in making strategies thus making it advantageous against computer chess. In addition, databases are also created by software makers that hold the strategies known by human players.

In October 2002, another match between human against computer chess was held and that was between Deep Fritz and Vladimir Kramnik. The conventional anti-computer tactics played by Kramnik made a long term advantage over the computer thus Kramnik won the first two games. However, after the risky strategies performed by Fritz, the human chess player lost the game.

Due to the emerging concept of computer chess, the path of chess players was separated in two directions.  Some players embraced the concept of advanced chess by utilizing and further developing computer software to explore possible moves that work best in the board. On the other hand, another computer chess version was created that is advantageous to human players. The version is difficult to play but since the computer lacks ability to store strategies, human players take advantage in the game.

The game between computer chess and human chess player only shows that the computer systems overwhelmed the capability of human chess champions. This was determined by the ELO rating wherein the best machine gained 40 points while the best human player gained only 2 points annually. Due to the results of competitions, even kids gained interest in playing computer chess than other online games. Besides, playing computer chess is not only entertaining but also educational.
